With more lockdowns, especially in Europe, be aware that flights from South Africa are generally not full. This situation presents opportunities and risks for travellers.
Flights are likely to be cancelled and combined at short notice which can result in serious inconvenience. Often resulting in the need to obtain new COVID tests.
It does offer the chance of good airfare deals. But beware!
Try to avoid booking too far in advance and be very careful about booking connecting flights on a separate booking. If the airline cancels the first flight, they will not take responsibility for onward flights booked separately.
I also would not recommend booking flights well in advance. The COVID restrictions could prevent you from travelling. Obtaining refunds from airlines these days can be tough. They usually want to give you a 'voucher' and who knows what a voucher from XYZ airlines will be worth in six months.
