International flights to start from South Africa 01 Oct

International Flights from South Africa recommenced on 1st October

For The latest details one which airlines are operating to and from South Africa.

Beware of last minute flight cancellations.

With more lockdowns, especially in Europe, be aware that flights from South Africa are generally not full. This situation presents opportunities and risks for travellers.

Flights are likely to be cancelled and combined at short notice which can result in serious inconvenience. Often resulting in the need to obtain new COVID tests.
It does offer the chance of good airfare deals. But beware!

Try to avoid booking too far in advance and be very careful about booking connecting flights on a separate booking. If the airline cancels the first flight, they will not take responsibility for onward flights booked separately.
I also would not recommend booking flights well in advance. The COVID restrictions could prevent you from travelling. Obtaining refunds from airlines these days can be tough. They usually want to give you a 'voucher' and who knows what a voucher from XYZ airlines will be worth in six months.

Covid-19

Domestic Air Travel within South Africa is permitted for more details.

Scheduled international flights from South Africa have recommenced on a very much reduced schedule.

WARNING. FLIGHTS CURRENTLY SHOWN ON AIRLINE WEBSITES

Be warned many airlines are showing flights on their websites and accepting payment when it is unlikely that many of these flights will operate.

Many people are still waiting for refunds for tickets purchased many months ago. Certain well known European airlines stopped refunds and are now only starting to refund.

Air travel isn't the same as it was six months ago and what you knew then is likely to now be incorrect.

You have been warned!

Additional Information.

I have travelled extensively, and I know what a good deal is, and what isn't. I also often know about new flights and fares before these hit the usual media. I knew about Emirates extra's flights days before the general information became public. Likewise, with British Airways summer Gatwick Cape Town flights.

Friends tell me I’m a mine of information about airlines and travel, and that I should share it – so that’s what I’m doing. I plan to share what I know, to help you, the traveller to get the best value. This will improve your air travel experience. Since COVID-19 advice about air travel is more important than ever. What you think was correct about air travel isn't necessarily correct anymore. Air travel has changed and won't be the same again for a long time, perhaps never. In many countries, the only flights operating are repatriation flights.

If it helps you, please like my page and share it with friends who will also benefit.

The golden age of air travel might be over, but the upside is that it's much cheaper these days. It is now available to so many more people.
